ABOUT ME

As retired Consultant for Skilled and Technical Sciences with the Iowa Department of Education, I have a demonstrated history of working in education management and program development to assist students and workers in acquiring the superior skills, knowledge, and abilities that will leverage their ability to command a high-quality and healthy standard of living.  My prior experience includes over 25 years of experience working and supervising construction projects, and teaching and administering apprenticeship programs at the local, state and national levels.

Safety must be foundational for all Skilled & Technical Sciences, Trade and Industrial teaching, learning, practice, and performance.  My perspective on safety developed at the beginning of my construction career in the early 1970’s, when I worked in the Southern California residential construction industry, Workers faced many safety-related challenges back then.  Throughout my career, I’ve focused on studying, learning, and applying safety and health strategies, while working and supervising construction work that included residential, light commercial, and high rise. I was program leader for a Building Trades program for 11 years at a community college, actively working with secondary and postsecondary students in class, shop, and work-based on-the-job paid internships.  For the past 11 years, working for the Iowa Department of Education, I provided administrative oversight and technical assistance to secondary and postsecondary programs, to support quality CTE education and training.
